Style Wars in Glen Mills to help children with cancer

On Sunday, September 23rd at 5 p.m., the highly anticipated 4th Annual Joseph Anthony Style Wars fashion competition benefiting children’s cancer foundation, Adopt a Pig: Change Matters for Kids with Cancer, will take place at Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa and Salon in Glen Mills, Pa. The VIP cocktail reception will take start at 4 p.m.

One hundred percent of funds raised through sponsorships, ticket sales, and a live auction at Style Wars 2012 will directly benefit the Adopt a Pig program. The initiative began in April 2005 when a father and daughter painted their first piggy bank shortly after learning of her cancer diagnosis. This project was initially a distraction for their family but later transformed into a source of therapy. Now, thousands of piggy banks are painted by children in the region going through cancer treatments. The painted piggy banks are an important coping mechanism and lead the fundraising for the charity. They are sold (“adopted”) for $25.00 and proceeds benefit a variety of support services and coping mechanisms for patients and their families. Learn more about the charity at www.adoptapig.org.

Sunday’s event will be hosted by FOX 29 Good Day co-host, Jennaphr Frederick and will feature a special guest performance by up-and-coming NY-based pop group, SHe. Style Wars 2012 Presenting Sponsor, RDS Enterprises: Porsche of The Main Line, McLaren Philadelphia, Maserati of The Main Line will be showcasing their Porsche Cayenne GTS, Porsche 991, as well as the McLaren MP4-12C and Maserati GranTurismo.

The highlight of the night, which will begin with a special runway show by Kids’ Runway for Research, will be when teams of stylists from Joseph Anthony, models from Jax Modeling Agency, and the Philadelphia Eagle’s Cheerleaders compete for best overall look: hair, makeup, and wardrobe on the runway.
